Southern
Convenience Stores
The Southern Convience Store story begins all the way back in 1935. It was in this year that Clyde and Lila Foeste decided to purchase a two story brick home located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and start their business, Southern Oil Company.
To advertise their showplace, a bright neon sign was placed by the street; flashing the two words EAT…GAS…at alternate times in the formation of a cross. In addition, the new store was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week—the first of its kind to the region.
The Southern Convenience store at South Sprigg has had much recognition following its completion, including the “Best In Class” award from the National Wood Frame Builder’s Association as the “Building of the Year”.
From a humble beginning some seventy years ago with a two story house, to a nationally-recognized and growing convenience store business, Bi-State Oil Company is committed to offering fast and friendly service in a safe and clean environment. Stop in and find out why for three generations Bi-State Oil Company has said… “We Keep You Moving.”

Shivelbine Music & Sound
Shivelbine's Music Store, Inc., founded in 1949, has been providing quality music and sound equipment to our region for nearly 60 years. In 1969, the store moved to its current location at 535 Broadway, at the corner of Broadway and Frederick streets. Music lesson studios were added, along with an even greater selection of musical products. Many a resident, young and old alike, has made the trek to Shivelbine's to select their instruments.
Over the years, school band instruments and related services have been a mainstay of Shivelbine’s business. Today, they serve more than 100 schools throughout Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and Northeast Arkansas. They work with band directors and individual musicians, offering the best in service, repair and accessories.
Shivelbine’s is a locally-owned, community-minded store that has and continues to loan equipment for countless fundraisers and community events, including the Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival. Shivelbine Music and Sound… committed to serving you.

Drury Hotels

Drury Southwest
It all started on a small farm in the Bootheel of Southeast Missouri back in the 1940's. Lambert Drury and his sons supplemented their farm income with plastering jobs on the side. Always focused on quality, service, innovation and value. The Drury's built their very first hotel, a Holiday Inn, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
After making money on the rooms side of the business only to lose it all on the restaurant and lounge side, they settled on a new hotel concept that separated the rooms from the food & beverage operations. The first Drury Inn opened in Sikeston, Missouri, with a rate of $10.88. The Drury brothers had learned that you always give the customer more than what they could get at any other hotel -- that's how you keep them coming back. Cleaner rooms, friendlier team members, and extras that don't cost extra.
Drury Hotels continues to be 100% family owned and operated. Forover 30 years, Drury has continued to stick with the basics that helped the company grow from a small plastering business in theBootheel of Missouri to a successful, growing system of 120 hotels in 19 states. The exceptionally friendly and hard working team members at every Drury Hotel share the same simple virtues that the brothers learned on the family farm and adapted to the road.
At Drury Hotels... you are our guest, you are welcome and your satisfaction is guaranteed!
